WILL I LOSE MORE WEIGHT IF I SKIP MEALS?
Share
"It's a common mistake to believe that skipping a meal will make us lose weight quickly. At first, it may seem logical: if you eat less, it's harder to gain weight. Seems like it makes sense, right? Well, no, it has the opposite effect, and I'll explain why!
All nutritionists agree that the best way to lose weight is to divide your daily calories into five meals spread throughout the day . The idea is to ensure your body is constantly receiving energy throughout the day. This will boost your metabolism, as you'll be digesting five meals a day.
With this we will achieve two things:
1.- By constantly receiving energy, the body will increase caloric expenditure (metabolism), consuming more daily energy , thus helping to lose weight .
2.- By constantly receiving energy, the body detects that it does not need to store as much fat , since the body does not go through prolonged periods of hunger.
Let's now see what the body's reaction is when we skip meals.
When we skip a meal, we're starving our body. The body quickly senses that there's no continuous energy input and puts the metabolism on alert. We're basically telling the body to be careful because we don't know when we'll eat again. The body responds by slowing down its metabolism (reducing the amount of energy it expends) and increasing its fat storage for the next time we skip a meal . That is, instead of burning all the energy you give the body, it only burns part of it and stores the rest for the next time it's hungry.
"Conclusion if you skip
a meal will make you lose weight more slowly"
The general idea for losing weight is to eat fewer calories than you expend daily, so your body gets what it needs from fats and you lose weight. As I said before, the general idea is not to starve yourself all day; it's best to divide what you eat into five meals so you don't arrive at meals ravenously hungry.
Remember that cutting calories doesn't have to mean eating less food . Making healthier food choices can be a more sustainable weight-loss strategy than trying to reduce your portion size , according to a new study by experts at Pennsylvania State University in the United States.
Now you know the healthiest and most effective way to lose weight. Good luck, and above all, lots of patience! Keep it up!
